Slow Motion Lightning

Just figured I would make a post with this slow motion video of lightning. This is one of the better slow motion videos of lightning I have seen on YouTube so far. Fascinating if you ask me.

This particular YouTube user has quite a few other cool slow motion videos worth checking out too.

Lightning strikes the earth on average 100 times per second which adds up to a mind boggling 8,640,000 zaps every day! For researchers across the nation, this number helps provide frequent opportunity for further study. These scientists have been given the nickname of Lightning Chasers.

Golf is good for your health, but dangerous extremes lurk on the course. Two hazards not discussed enough are the risk of skin cancer from sun exposure and the peril of lightning.

Site Changes

Most site changes are complete, at least for now.

The most obvious and major change is the overall look and feel of the site which I think is very cool in part because it enables me to set up the site somewhat like a Windows 7 desktop including a taskbar at the bottom. Some features may still have a few bugs so please let me know if you see problems. Don’t forget to check out the various themes available from the “Start” button.

I am going to start adding news articles and information to the News page so you should start seeing articles relating to lightning and much more there.

I hope to add lots of stuff relating to lightning soon and even more later to make the site better. This is mostly going to be related to taking videos and pictures of lighting but I also want to add content that is about lightning in general and the science and things we know about it etc.

If you have any suggestions or comments please do not hesitate to let me know.
